For about a year I have wanted to start a blog and have a place where I can express how being a vegan has given me the chance to make my dreams come true.  I am in a place in my life right now where I am truly happy.  I have my own business with two amazing partners, I am reaching new levels in my fitness every month, I am right on track to becoming an elite Ultra-Marathon runner, I have the best support crew and friends any one could ask for, and I am starting a relationship that is perfect.  None of this could of happened without one of the biggest life changes I have ever made.  In 2009 I changed my life by going Vegan and that one change gave me the power and courage to make my dream life come true!!!!

I’ll go into more details about how, why I made the change, and what eating a plant-strong diet did for me physically  in another blog post but first I want to talk about what this blog is going to be about. During the 7 years I’ve been Vegan, I have studied and physically worked my ass off to give myself the knowledge, strength, and respect needed so that the society around me will actually listen to my message.  Because come on…In our society as soon as you mention the word vegan most people start to think…”Where do you get your protein from?”, “You know being Vegan is really unhealthy?”, “How do you survive without bacon?”, “What can you eat now?”, “Don’t you feel weak all the time?”, “So you only eat rabbit food?”

And I used to be no different then you. I grew up eating the normal American diet and I wasn’t fat but I definitely wasn’t fit either.  You could say I was skinny fat.   I used to tell people that going vegetarian just sounded stupid.  How could anyone ever give up meat?

But you know what? I just wasn’t very well educated.

Our society has a very unhealthy view on Nutrition and it is only getting worse.  Americans are fatter and sicker then ever before. And being physically active is becoming a joke because most people are too out of shape to even take their dog for a walk.  It has become my passion and mission to help fight that lack of knowledge and give people the truth about what a healthy diet is suppose to look like.  This fight is a hard one however because large food companies are always in your face with fancy marketing to help put a false blanket over the truth.  This blanket keeps people confused and keeps the masses from ever seeing the truth.  For example check out this pic I found in Runners World Magazine….

milk

Really!?!?!?!?!?!

This advertisement is a perfect example of why we need to research what we eat and not blindly believe everything we read.  I’ve linked an article that explains why chocolate milk is not a great recovery drink because I don’t want you to take my word on it… I want you to research the hell out of it so you can find the truth for yourself just like I did. Why is Chocolate milk not a great recovery drink?

To learn more about why milk and dairy is bad for you go to this website NutritionFacts.org and then search milk.  You will find a large amount of articles, videos, and just about anything you need to help you find the truth.

Also, instead of having a drink that is full of added sugar, chemicals, hormones, and acid that will kill your bones why night have a delicious Green smoothie.  My favorite recovery drink is the Peachy Green from Juiceland and it provides fresh apples, peaches, spinach, and kale! And it tastes amazing. If you are worried about protein just ask them to add the brown rice protein.  I’ll talk about protein on here as well… Promise!

So my goal with this blog is to RANT about all of the ridiculous ideas our society believes about nutrition but that isn’t the main goal.  The main goal is to help people find the truth about how to keep their bodies healthy and become ridiculously fit.  Eating a plant-strong diet has given me strength and endurance I never thought possible.  I ran my first 100 mile race this past July and I just signed up for another one this coming September.  My goal with this blog is to make an army of super humans that are ridiculously fit, can run and do anything they want, and will help make this world a better place.

With that I am out for today.  More Blogs coming soon!

Become Plant-Strong!!!
